Lake's entry into the market with the CX160 at £79.99
- Heaviest on test
- Get a little hot
Price as reviewed:£79.99
Lake’s entry-level shoes might be the heaviest on test, but then they’re also among the few brands that use real hide.
The leather uppers are neatly stitched with soft mesh areas for ample ventilation and feature a soft inner that really cossets around the ankle and heel.
As with the DMT and Pearl Izumi shoes, Lake has opted to forgo the usual ratchet top strap in favour of three broad Velcro straps that pull tight through strong metal loops to give a comfortable but secure fit.
The solid nylon sole means it can get a little warm underfoot but with online deals for as little as £43.99, it’s a minor criticism that can be easily overlooked.
