The heaviest shoes on test, and with a curious blend of old-school looks and modern technology, first impressions weren’t great.
But the proof is in the pedalling, and in the case of the CX236C, we were proved wrong.
Wide fitting and, aside from a fairly stiff toe-box that took a little breaking in, comfortable from the off, these soon became the shoes I’d pick up first for the work commute. The Boa lacing system evenly tightens the shoe and pulls the heel cup nice and tight, reducing slippage with the added bonus of making them incredibly easy to get on and off.
The sole could be a little stiffer but as an all-day comfortable sportive shoe, it’s still a decent choice. Also available in white. www.lakecycling.co.uk
