A stiff sole, soft plyable upper and supportive innersoles combine to make an incredibly comfortable shoe. These three factors ensure comfort surrounds the foot while preserving performance, with a stiff shoe-pedal interface.
The soft upper tightens all round the foot — with two offset Velcro straps and one larger strap with a ratchet — without suffocating your foot. The soft top strap is especially good as it doesn’t dig into your ankle.
The beauty of the custom-fit innersoles is the arch supports (high and middle supports came with this test pair), which corrected my pronation and helped keep my knees in the vertical plane while pedalling.
The R260s are heat mouldable (including the innersole) but their comfort is such that I haven’t needed to use this. My only complaint is the colour. Black makes them look big and clunky, so it’s oversocks when I wear them.
