Altura Pocket Rocket review

This super lightweight offering from Alutra lives up to its Pocket Rocket name...

Cycling Weekly Verdict

Nice additions include thumb-straps to avoid any gap ‘twixt glove and sleeve, and there’s no storage bag to lose, as it folds into its own pocket. If you can find it online for under £50 (you will, easily) then it’s a bargain. But at £69.99, there are better out there.

Sizes XS-XXL - Colours: black, blue, yellow, red

The Pocket Rocket packs down to a very small size, the lack of bulk making it, perhaps predictably, just the right size for a jersey pocket. The material feels a fair bit more substantial than the Endura jacket, so we were quite surprised when the scales revealed that it weighed just 19g more, making it the second-lightest on test.

Water resistance is superb and the material repels water well so it never becomes saturated and heavy. Breathability isn’t the worst we’ve encountered, but at this price point it really should be better. We found the sizing came up quite large (especially in the belly area) so while slender racers might find it a bit flappy at speed, the cut should suit a wide range of riders.
