The Kiron Scandium is Wiggle’s first in-house road bike and cutting out the middle man results in competitive pricing. In fact, what you get for your buck with this bike is nothing shy of incredible. On paper value is one thing, but we had high hopes for the ride too, from the scandium and carbon combo.
Our previous experiences of scandium frames, admittedly without a carbon rear end, have had a highly charged ride feel — stiff, light and responsive, but without being too harsh. What the Kiron Scandium delivers is much softer than we’d expected, but in such a way that performance does not seem to be hugely affected.
Easton’s EC90 carbon stays and Superlight forks flex to the benefit of rider comfort, but whereas in other frames this can leave it feeling lost and dead, the Kiron seems to pay some of that energy back to you, and maintains a positive feel, albeit a little whippily.
The Kiron Scandium’s steering response is less positive and the fork is not the best choice for a heavier or more aggressive rider, but it’s easy to fix.
We’ve already mentioned this bike is great value and the level of spec is impressive at this price. If you want a bike that will deliver long-term reliability then the components are just the job. There’s durability where it counts.
Few would bet against Shimano Ultegra and 105 components going the distance, and Easton’s wheels are top notch.
Only the tyres have let us down, no pun intended, but that’s a tiny gripe and not a sign of corner cutting, as even the bar tape is Easton branded. The fact that there’s no need to change things is a big plus.

The Kiron Scandium ticks a lot of boxes, with perhaps the only one left unchecked being the racing one. It’s not as good as some of the others here for delivering maximum performance, but for pretty much anything else it’s great. It’s best in the lanes, and definitely a hot pick for long distances.
