I’m a fan of the quiet look, so I have to register my initial prejudice against these shorts.

They aren’t exactly garish, but they’ve got rather a lot more graphics going on than the rest.

While hardly inventive with the panel lines, the medium-weight, quality Lycra and robust stitching offer a good fit.

B’Twin has worked hard on the quality of the padded insert. Variable depth and firmness from the gel pad provides excellent comfort, and it recovers after washing to maintain its shape – an indicator that it should last well, too.

Love or loath the lurid styling, these well-priced shorts perform far better than the swing-tag might suggest.
