In Castelli’s world the Velocissimo is a more budget-oriented short despite costing £100, so can it still be any good? From me the answer is a resounding yes.
With the Kiss3 pad you’re getting a top-quality insert that while not the deepest on the market, still offers great cushioning and, based on previous experience, should last an age.
Castelli’s cut is no less figure-hugging on the Velocissimo which gives a reassuringly snug fit – just one of the reasons they work so well as the pad is firmly held in place. The minimalist straps don’t spread the load too well, as they tend to bunch but it’s a very minor gripe on what is an otherwise splendid short.
