With the worst winter in years for freezing temperatures, keeping warm on the bike has required a fair few layers and the Northwave Core bibshorts have become my favourite line of defence against the cold.
A thick brushed-fleece material called Lombardy has been used in the construction of these shorts. This extra thermal layer has not only kept my thighs warm but with the high-zipped front has helped to insulate everything up to my chest. A breathable fabric on the back helps to regulate body temperature, as you can often get too hot in some conditions with a few thermal layers on top.
Northwave uses a Bi-Elastic high-density pad with air foam, which was comfortable for hours in the saddle. The only thing I would like to see is a smaller logo on the leg.
The Northwave Core bibshort is spot-on for this time of year and will certainly be in my kit bag for the chilly spring days coupled with some knee warmers.
