Another well designed product from the British brand
As you’d expect from Rapha, the design of the Pro Team thermal bibshorts is utterly uncompromising — no stone has been left unturned in the pursuit of warmth and comfort.
The Thermoroubaix fabric used in the main body of the shorts is similar to that used in the others in this test. A fleeced inner provides extra insulation while retaining stretch in the Lycra outside. When combined with the dense mesh bib, high front and longer-than-usual legs, these provide a level of warmth only matched by Endura’s Thermolite.
Comfort is excellent. The Cytech chamois is a little thick for shorts apparently designed for an aggressive riding position, but we found the extra support nice for longer rides. Over-locked stitching on the inseam, and flatlock stitching, aid comfort by preventing rubbing.
The only thing preventing the Rapha shorts from taking top spot is the price. The Endura Thermolite are a match for these in terms of warmth and comfort and we just can’t find a way to justify the £120 price difference.
Well designed, comfortable shorts, but the price is high for this market
