We were so excited when the Rap 14 turned up, but sadly the romance came to a crashing end when we tried to use it on a SRAM Red groupset.
Mid-ride, we found the need to tweak the rear mech but, hang on, the high and low screws need a flat blade screwdriver or a 2.5mm Allen key, neither of which is fitted to the Rap 14 — a bit of an omission given SRAM’s place in the market.
The tyre lever sort of worked, but only with serious care. And how about the 4mm to adjust the cable tension? Another struggle as the Allen key was fractionally oversized and had to be forced in.
We’re kicking ourselves for missing these points, but we still like the mini chain splitter and LED light. A little refinement would put it back our list of favourites.
