Get the best out of the week before your big ride by nailing that final preparation, as one of the biggest sportive weekends of the year approaches

For a lot of us, a well-ridden sportive can be the highlight of the cycling calendar. Whether you’re taking on your first ever event, just doing it for fun, or you’re a seasoned veteran looking to set a new personal best.

This weekend is one of the biggest for sportives in the whole year, with the likes of the Box Hill Original Sportive, the Palace to Palace and the Tour Ride 100 all happening on Sunday.

Getting the best out of yourself for any of these events can require a substantial amount of time and dedication, particularly if you plan to take on a new farthest distance. But whether you’ve managed to stick to a rigid training plan or you’ve done next to nothing in the build up, getting the final week preparation spot on can get you through a tough course without hitting the wall at least.

Here you can find all the essential advice from our in-house experts on how to make sure you’re ready for your sportive; from what and when to eat, to getting your kit right for the day.
