The merging together of WorldTour teams Cannondale and Garmin-Sharp would only ever end one way; that’s right, green argyle kit.

The team maintains more remnants from the old American Garmin team than it does from Cannondale, with the likely scenario that Andrew Talansky, Daniel Martin and Ryder Hesjedal will continue to lead most of the squads heading to big races this year.

They’ll surely be looking for more success in the grand tours in 2015, with a slightly anti-climatic build-up to the Tour de France in 2014, which saw Talansky win the Criterium du Dauphine but fail to really make an impact on the Tour before withdrawing through injury.

With Irishman Martin there’s always the possibility of victory in the Classics, but there’s strong riders behind the team leaders, including the likes of Tom-Jelte Slagter and Ramunas Navardauskas, who can always produce a victory from nowhere in a team that’s never short of surprises.
