When: June 15-19 2016
Where: Great Britain
UCI status: Women’s WorldTour

The international women’s peloton comes to the UK in June for the third edition of the Aviva Women’s Tour.

The 2016 race takes place from June 15-19, starting in Southwold, Suffolk, and finishing in Kettering, Northamptonshire.

The event received a significant boost for the 2016 season, after the UCI awarded it WorldTour status, meaning that it is part of the top-level series of international races. All of the top women’s teams will therefore take part.

Each of the 16 teams will field six riders apiece. Among them will be defending champion Lisa Brennauer (Canyon//SRAM), Hannah Barnes (Canyon//SRAM), Emma Pooley (Great Britain) and Kirsten Wild (HiTec)

Despite being the shortest of the five stages, stage three from Ashbourne to Chesterfield looks like it might well be the key day in shaping the general classification. The stage takes in part of the Peak District National Park and includes around 2000 metres of climbing in its 112.6-kilometre distance.
