TOUR DE FRANCE 2007: STAGES
STAGE SEVEN
Compiled by Edward Pickering, Nigel Wynn
When: Saturday, July 14
Where: Bourg en Bresse-Le Grand Bornand
Length: 197.5km
DESCRIPTION
The race finally hits the Alps. After the start in Bourg en Bresse, the
stage meanders through mountainous valleys before hitting the Col de la
Columbiere and the final descent into Grand Bornand.
At 165km the riders leave the valley roads and strike out to the top of
the 16km Col de la Columbiere - this is close enough to the finish to
have a significant effect on the overall classification.
It's likely that the genuine yellow jersey contenders will want to do
more than finish in a group, so expect a lead group of 10-15 riders sprinting
to the line.
