Winter gloves rated for use down to minus five degrees

Part of Pro’s first stab at the glove market, the Pro Ultimate is the company's highest-priced windproof glove.

Using a wind-resistant membrane on its upper has allowed for a lot less bulk and accounts for the thin fleece liner inside. Pro claims these gloves are warm down to minus five degrees, although I found at around freezing a liner glove was needed.

Being designed as a windproof glove, the outer membrane is also no more than shower proof.

Silicone anti-slip on the palm gives a good grip but this is thin and won’t be padded enough for some. The long cuff is ideal for pulling over the arms of your winter jacket and the softer area on the inner of the cuff is perfect for wiping your nose.

Verdict

As a lightweight spring/early winter glove the Pro Ultimate is a good option but if it’s waterproofing you are after then it is worth looking at the X-Pert from Pro.
