Nailing the wheel market at a first attempt was always a big ask for USE, and for the most part the Nano 4.5 aren't bad. They roll well.

Once they were up to 14/15mph, momentum took over and before I knew it I was knocking on the door of 20mph, which riding alone in sub-zero conditions, is no mean feat. However, they just didn't make me feel like I was about to smoke the rest of the peloton or smash a PB.

They also, when out the saddle, did have a bit of flex, enough to adjust the rear brake caliper.

The Nano surface treatment that enables muck to bead off would work fantastically for cyclo-cross, but it's just not an attribute I feel particularly bereft of on the road since the wheels went back.

Verdict

These are a bit of a flag in the ground for USE and they certainly have got the, well, wheels rolling in the market, but I suspect the next iteration will be more of a challenge to the better-known brands.
