Although commonly used on top-end road bikes, Chris King's components hail from off-road R&D. King's new Swift hubs are its first dedicated road product.

Using lighter axles, a titanium version of its highly regarded ‘RingDrive' rear hub engagement and slimmed down CNC machined hub shells, they weigh only 320g a pair.

The bearings, with low-friction seals, are silky smooth, and if previous King products are anything to go by, they'll stay that way mile after mile.

Verdict

Chris King has delivered a hard to beat package; lightweight, with a high quality engineered pedigree, top performance, plus outstanding durability, and the Swifts are cheaper than the standard King hubs, too.

£115: Front hub
£305: Rear hub
