Part of FSA, Vision is a side of the company geared towards TT and tri.
The TriMax uses a 50mm-deep tubular rim, with a reinforced and pronounced CNC-machined braking surface. This gave impressive performance that can be put down to the smoothness of the CNC'd surface.
The rim is made up of 3K unidirectional carbon-fibre and barring the braking surface is a rather ordinary aerodynamic carbon rim design with a ‘marble stone' finish. Weighing in at 1,524g for the pair, they're not overly light and use a 20/24-spoke pattern.
Once the TriMax is rolling it's easy to keep the inertia going, but it lacks a responsive or lively feeling, something I feel comes back round to the weight.
Vision's sealed bearings are impressive due to the size, and when combined with the oversized 17mm axle it adds up to excellent lateral stiffness and helps to reduce bearing load.
Verdict
What you get for your buck here is a solid, aero wheel that may not be as aero as other examples out there but is laterally stiff with silky bearings.
