Santini SMS CAR Zero bibshorts

Price: £109.99

Unisex cycling shorts with a simple yet highly effective design, £109.99

Pros

Great fit
Comfortable
Well made

Cons

Not much

Score 10

I gave these shorts a right good test by riding the Passo di Ganda (a 10km climb which featured in stage 18 of this years Giro) in 30°C heat, so their impressive results were something to write about.

In a nutshell, these unisex shorts fit like a second skin.

Santini has kept it simple by using the highly elasticated and lightweight Swiss Eschler carbon fabric so the entire bottom half only has one seam on each thigh.

Other stitching has been kept to a minimum by heat-sealing the edges on the bibs and chamois, reducing the chances of chafing.

Verdict

The padding ticks all the boxes of a chamois wishlist: antibacterial; winged edges and a gel insert, which has its own long list of features.
