It's taken us a long time to review the I-Clic pedals for a host of reasons.
First off we were sent pre-production versions that weren't rideable, then Time recalled the cleats as it became apparent they wore too fast. So it was a slow start.
The rushed release isn't a surprise as the concept is such a major step forwards and beats the Look carbon spring hands down, but the devil is in the detail.
The use of a ‘switch' to close the cleat is inspired as it should make for a far easier entry, yet in reality it does regularly get hung up, requiring two attempts to get it closed. We still think the wear of the cleat is too fast but it is in line with the opposition.
Verdict
All the same, I-Clic is a great system but not the leap forward it promised to be. Niggles and poor longevity have dulled them in our eyes. It's allowed Time to keep pace with the competition where once
it led them, which is a shame.

Don't go near these pedals, they are dangerous! I used a pair for three months and my shoes kept slipping out of the pedals for no reason that i could see. Even a seasoned qualified bike mechanic couldn't work out what was wrong. I find it incredible that a company would compromise rider safety just to stay "Ahead" of the competition. Useless! Returned to shop.
The old style time are good though.

These pedals are awful. I have had Time pedals since the late 1980's, and I am totally disappointed in the I-Clics. I tried two pairs and literally was breaking cleats out after two - three rides. The cleats are too wide for the soleplate (Time Carbon Ulteam RS so you think they would fit), and they break almost immediately. I never thought I would do this as I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years, but I swapped for a pair of Look blades and love them. Cleat wear with the Looks is almost non-existent.

I love the iClics. Super easy in and out. Definitive click on entry, no problems with unintended release, relatively low stack height. Love the float.
After months no problems with cleats despite the fact that I weigh 200+ lbs. However, my cleats are well supported with my shoe sole. I could see problems if the pontoons could flex while walking if any were not snug against sole.
