Keeping the drivetrain performing well requires a good lube, especially in wintry weather. We’ve got a bundle together including wet, dry and something a bit different to see what sticks and what slips

Due to its lower viscosity than many wet lubes, the Muc-Off penetrates the chain to get inside the rollers very quickly.

This not only leaves little on the surface to wipe off pre-ride, it means little oozes out in use to collect road grime.

The downside is the extra work when it comes to the eventual cleaning.

Verdict

It is cheaper and more readily available than Purple Extreme, and only just lags behind in overall performance. You could do a lot, lot worse.
