Knowledge is power, a wise old cyclist once said. So when it comes to swotting up on first class fettling and learning your ferrules from your freewheels, we've found seven paper paths to enlightenment

Just like their tools, this manual is costly, but if the quality of the advice matches up to our favourite blue spanners and Allen keys it's a worthy investment. It didn't disappoint.

The information is comprehensive and the photos, illustrated using Park's products, naturally, are very informative.

It's a very dry read though with no surplus jocular frivolity à la For Dummies - although the more experienced home mechanic may prefer that.

Verdict

If you're serious enough about repairing your own bike to invest in Park Tool, then this is a handy guide to get the most from them.

If you have an expensive bike, don't mess around with it, unless you know what you are doing. Knowing tricks for road-side-repairs can be extremely useful, and help get you home.
