Shimano Di2 TT shift/brake levers

Shimano Di2 TT shift/brake levers

The impressive functionality of Shimano’s Dura-Ace Di2 electronic groupset continues to convert the previously unconvertible.

Team Sky, for example — not ones to shirk when it comes to equipment — choose Di2 for on the road, but the time trial components in the range have also become popular with a number of triathletes and pro teams such as HTC-Columbia — and quite rightly too.

While Di2’s TT bar-end shifters function in much the same way as standard TT bar-end shifters — albeit with a satisfying whirr as opposed to a heart-in-mouth clunk — the group’s base-bar shift/brake levers, pictured here, allow similarly crisp gear changes while out of the aero position when coming into, and accelerating out of corners, with two handily placed thumb-operated buttons located inside the carbon levers.
