British Olympic swimmer Stephen Parry joined hundreds of riders for the Cycling Weekly Ripon Revolution Sportive on Sunday, June 23.
Riding his first ever sportive, Parry rode the short 65-mile route – but admitted that it was still twice the distance that he’d ever ridden before. “Absolutely loved it,” said Parry at the finish. “The rain stayed off, there was a bit of wind, but it’s so invigorating getting it done… it’s probably just as good as swimming, I’d say!”
The ride started and finished at Ripon Racecourse, offering a first-class venue with its facilities. Riders tackled the climbs of High Ash Moor, Greenhow, Round Hill and Brimham Rocks on their way around the North Yorkshire route.
The next event in the Cycling Weekly Sportive Series is the Malvern Mad Hatter on Sunday, September 1 with 46, 74 and 104-mile routes to choose from. Full event details including online entry>>
Riders completing four or more events in the CW sportive series will receive a personalised trophy to recognise their efforts.
